Crispy Tofu Sandwhich
Ingredients
- 226 g Soy-Free Tofu (Sis Mountain)
Dry Mixture:
- 15 g All Purpose Flour (King Arthur)
- Salt & Pepper (to taste)
- ½ tsp Smoked Paprika
- ½ tsp Garlic Powder
- ½ tsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Red Chili Flakes
- 5 g Tapioca Flour (Bob’s Red Mill)
Wet Mixture:
- 30 ml Lowfat Buttermilk (Whole Foods)
- 15 g Egg Whites (H-E-B)
- 15 ml Low Sodium Soy Sauce (Kikkomans)
Chipotle Mayo:
- 13 g Chipotle Mayo (Sir Kensington’s)
- 28 g Nonfat Greek Yogurt (Siggi’s)
Sandwich:
- 2 Ciabatta Rolls (Trader Joe’s)
- 2 slices Reduced Fat Swiss Cheese (Trader Joe’s)
- Slices of Pickles
- Slices of Jalapeños
- Shredded Lettuce
- Red Onion Rings
Instructions
Tofu:
- Remove your tofu from the packaging and pat dry with paper towels. Cut into three slabs about 1/2” thick. This recipe makes two patties so you can save the third for another recipe!226 g (8 oz) Soy-Free Tofu
Dry Mixture:
- In a flat dish, add in your dry ingredients and give it a good mix.15 g (2 tbsp) All Purpose Flour, Salt & Pepper, 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika, 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder, 1/2 tsp Chili Powder, 1 tsp Red Chili Flakes, 5 g (2.5 tsp) Tapioca Flour
Wet Mixture:
- In another dish, add your wet and mix as well.30 ml (2 tbsp) Lowfat Buttermilk, 15 g (1 tbsp) Egg Whites, 15 ml (1 tbsp) Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- Grab a tofu slab and coat it in your dry mixture on all sides. Then using another hand, carefully dip into the wet.
- Use your dry hand again to place back in the dry mixture and coat evenly. Place into your air fryer basket. Repeat for the second slab.
- Air fry at 400° for 10 minutes, flipping halfway.
Chipotle Mayo:
- Meanwhile, mix together your mayo and yogurt in a bowl until smooth.13 g (1 tbsp) Chipotle Mayo, 28 g (2 tbsp) Nonfat Greek Yogurt
Sandwich:
- Slice your ciabatta roll in half and place a slice of cheese on the bottom one. Toast until nice and crispy.2 Ciabatta Rolls, 2 slices Reduced Fat Swiss Cheese
- Prep all your desired sandwich fix-ins.Slices of Pickles, Slices of Jalapeños, Shredded Lettuce, Red Onion Rings
Assemble:
- Add a layer of your mayo to the bottom slice and spread evenly. Repeat for second sandwich.
- Then top each with your crispy tofu slab. Add in the remaining veggies and close up your sandwich.
- Cut in half and enjoy!
