Key Ingredients for this Strawberry Cheesecake Baked Oats

Diving into our strawberry cheesecake baked oats, letโ€™s explore the key components that make this dish a standout breakfast choice:

  • Banana: A natural sweetener, bananas add moisture and bind the ingredients together, giving your baked oats a perfect, cake-like texture.
  • Protein Plant Milk: Enhances the protein content and contributes to the creamy consistency, making each spoonful irresistibly smooth.
  • Nonfat Greek Yogurt: Introduces a tangy flavor that complements the sweetness of the strawberries and adds a boost of protein.
  • Vanilla Extract: A dash of vanilla enhances all the flavors, tying them together with its warm, aromatic essence.
  • Oat Flour: Provides a hearty base for the oats, ensuring they bake up just rightโ€”fluffy and filling.
  • Old Fashioned Oats: Adds texture and fiber, making this dish satisfying and good for your digestion.
  • Unflavored Protein Powder: Packs in the protein, turning your breakfast into a true power meal that keeps you fueled.
  • Cinnamon: Spices things up a bit, adding a subtle warmth thatโ€™s perfect for any breakfast.
  • Strawberries: The star of the show; these berries add natural sweetness and a juicy burst in every bite.
  • Reduced Fat Cream Cheese: Mimics the classic cheesecake richness without all the calories, adding creaminess to every bite.
  • Powdered Sugar: Sweetens the cream cheese subtly, enhancing its texture without overpowering the other flavors.
  • Graham Cracker: Sprinkled on top for a delightful crunch, echoing the classic cheesecake crust.

Substitution Options

Everyone has their own taste, so here are some simple swaps to tailor the strawberry cheesecake baked oats to your preferences:

  • Protein Plant Milk: Not a fan of plant-based milk? Swap it out for any milk you preferโ€”almond, soy, or even regular dairy milk can do the trick.
  • Greek Yogurt: If youโ€™re vegan or dairy-free, try substituting with a soy or coconut-based yogurt to maintain that creamy texture.
  • Oat Flour: For those who are gluten-sensitive, ensure your oat flour is certified gluten-free or substitute with another gluten-free flour of your choice.
  • Strawberries: Depending on the season or your taste, feel free to use other berries like blueberries or raspberries for a different twist.
  • Cream Cheese: For a lighter version, opt for a vegan cream cheese or simply increase the yogurt amount to keep the creamy texture without the cheese.

**If there is a sub I haven’t mentioned above, it’s because I have not tested it and can’t speak for how well it would work for this recipe.

Equipment and Tools

No need for complicated gadgets here; this recipe calls for simple tools that most kitchens already have:

  • Oven-Safe Bowl: The key vessel for mixing and baking your dish all in one place.
  • Mixing Bowl: For combining the cream cheese and powdered sugar.
  • Measuring Scale: Essential for precise ingredient measurements to ensure the perfect balance of flavors.

With these straightforward tools and easy-to-follow steps, making your strawberry cheesecake baked oats is a breeze, ensuring a delicious and nutritious start to your day.

How to Make Your Strawberry Cheesecake Baked Oats

Creating this strawberry cheesecake baked oats is as delightful as eating it. Hereโ€™s how to bring this dreamy breakfast to life:

strawberry cheesecake baked oats 01

Preparation

Start by preheating your oven and greasing your oven-safe bowl lightly to prevent sticking.

Wet Ingredients

In your chosen baking dish, mash the banana until smooth. Mix in the protein plant milk, Greek yogurt, and vanilla extract for a wet base thatโ€™s flavorful and rich.

Dry Ingredients

Add oat flour, old-fashioned oats, protein powder, and a sprinkle of cinnamon to the wet mixture. Stir thoroughly to avoid any dry spots.

Gently fold in most of the cubed strawberries, reserving some for topping.

Filling

Blend the reduced fat cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth, then dollop into the center of your oat mixture.

Scatter the remaining strawberries and crushed graham crackers on top for that perfect cheesecake feel.

Bake

Place in the oven and bake at 350ยฐF for about 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is your desired consistency.

Tips and Tricks

Mastering strawberry cheesecake baked oats is all about the small details that make a big difference. Here are some expert tips and tricks to elevate your baking experience and ensure every batch is as delightful as the last.

  • Select Premium Ingredients: Using high-quality strawberries and organic oat flour can significantly enhance the flavor of your baked oats. Fresh, ripe berries offer the best taste and texture.
  • Experiment with Flavors: Donโ€™t hesitate to switch up the berries or add different spices like nutmeg or allspice to give your dish a unique twist each time.
  • Optimize Baking Time: Keep an eye on the oven as baking times can vary. For gooey, creamy centers, stick closer to 25 minutes, but if you prefer a firmer texture, extend the baking time by a few minutes.
  • Pre-Bake Prep: For an even more indulgent treat, lightly toast your oatmeal and graham crackers before adding them to the mix. This step adds a delightful crunch and toasty flavor.
  • Serve Warm: To enjoy the full range of flavors, serve your baked oats warm. If they have cooled, a quick zap in the microwave can revive that fresh-from-the-oven taste.
  • Double Up: Making a double batch is hardly any more work and ensures you have a quick, delicious breakfast ready for several days.

By following these tips, youโ€™ll not only perfect your strawberry cheesecake baked oats but also enjoy the process of creating this comforting, nutritious breakfast.

Storage Instructions

Keeping your strawberry cheesecake baked oats delicious for days is easy with the right storage techniques. Hereโ€™s how to preserve that just-baked freshness:

  • Refrigeration: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will keep well for up to five days.
  • Reheat Properly: To enjoy again, simply reheat in the microwave until warm. This restores the gooey texture and warm flavors.
  • Avoid Freezing: While freezing is possible, it may affect the texture and moisture content of the oats and strawberries. If you do freeze, thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
  • Separate Components: If planning ahead, store the cream cheese mixture separately and add just before serving after reheating the oats.

These storage tips ensure that your strawberry cheesecake baked oats remain as enjoyable as when they were freshly baked.

FAQs

Absolutely! Frozen strawberries work well in this recipe. Just add them in slightly thawed to avoid excess moisture.

  2. What can I use instead of cream cheese for a dairy-free version?

For a dairy-free alternative, you can use any plant-based cream cheese or a thick, unsweetened coconut yogurt to mimic the creaminess of traditional cheesecake.

Instructions

Wet Ingredients:

  • In an oven safe bowl, add in your banana and mash with a fork until smooth.
    60 g (0.5 cups) Banana
  • Add in the remaining wet ingredients and give it a good mix.
120 ml (0.5 cups) Protein Plant Milk, 56 g (0.25 cups) Nonfat Greek Yogurt, 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Dry Ingredients:

  • Then add in the dry ingredients. You can use all whole oats, just oat flour, or a combo of both which is what I prefer.
    20 g (0.25 cups) Oat Flour, 20 g (0.25 cups) Old Fashioned Oats, 15 g (2 tbsp) Unflavored Protein Powder, 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • Mix really well and ensure you donโ€™t have any dry patches.

Toppings:

  • Wash and cube your strawberries and add in about 2/3rds and mix into the oats.
    50 g (0.33 cups) Strawberries
  • In a small bowl, mix together your cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Then add to the middle of your oatmeal.
    31 g (2 tbsp) Reduced Fat Cream Cheese, 7 g (1 tbsp) Powdered Sugar
  • Top with any remaining strawberries and your crushed graham crackers.
    7 g (1 tbsp) Graham Cracker
  • Bake at 350ยฐ for 25-30 minutes. The done-ness will be based on your preference of consistency. I like the middle to be gooey and creamy so 30 minutes was my sweet spot. Bake for longer for a more solid oatmeal.
